The BBC answered over 10,000 complaints from the audience during June 2008.
These ranged from a small number of complaints about potentially serious breaches of editorial guidelines through to a much larger collection of views about programme content and scheduling. The key themes which emerged are as follows:
Scheduling
Wimbledon 2008 prompted complaints about scheduling, where people were unhappy with
other programmes being shown later than billed or not being shown at all.
Technical
We received a number of complaints about the interruption of the Euro 2008 match between
Germany and Turkey on 25th June which occurred as a result of a technical fault.
Saturation / Insufficient Coverage
Complaints were received with regard to Euro 2008, where people felt there was too much
coverage of the tournament.
Standards Of Interviewing and Presentation
Commentary for Wimbledon 2008 prompted some viewers to complain about particular
presenters talking excessively, particularly during play.
Inappropriate Guest
Question Time tx 26 June attracted some viewers to complain of a poor choice
of panellist.
